Quality Control Microbiologist
ABOUT THE JOB
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring microbiological
quality and compliance of raw materials, in-process samples, environmental
samples, and finished products through microbiological testing, contamination
control, documentation, and adherence to GMP and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process samples, water samples,
environmental samples, and finished products.
• Conduct microbial load testing, sterility testing, pathogen detection, preservative efficacy monitoring, and contamination analysis.
• Perform microbial identification, enumeration, and trend analysis to ensure compliance with internal specifications and regulatory standards.
• Monitor microbiological limits as per GMP, GLP, ISO, PSQCA, and company SOPs.
• Investigate deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) results, contamination incidents, and non-conformances, while supporting CAPA implementation and root cause analysis.
• Maintain accurate documentation, laboratory records, logbooks, and test reports, including Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
• Assist in preparation, revision, and implementation of SOPs, specifications, test methods, and QC documentation.
• Ensure proper calibration, verification, maintenance, and validation of laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Maintain laboratory hygiene, environmental monitoring, safety standards, and proper waste disposal practices.
• Coordinate closely with QA, Production, Warehouse, and R&D teams for quality monitoring and process improvements.
• Participate in internal/external audits, inspections, validations, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for improving microbiological and QC processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and contamination control.
• Any other task assigned by management related to quality operations
Skills & Requirements
• BSc/MSc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in personal care, cosmetics,
pharmaceuticals, or FMCG industry.
• Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques, contamination control,
laboratory practices, and testing standards.
• Familiarity with GMP, GLP, ISO standards, hygiene regulations, and quality
systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
effectively.
